Focused Ultrasound

Focused Ultrasound is a non-invasive, image-guided platform technology that precisely ablates or modifies deep tissue (e.g., a 1mm target) using concentrated acoustic energy, treating conditions like essential tremor and uterine fibroids.

Focused Ultrasound (FUS) is a revolutionary, incisionless therapeutic technology: it harnesses converging beams of acoustic energy, much like a magnifying glass focuses light. This energy is concentrated with extreme precision onto a deep-seated target — often as small as 1mm — while sparing intervening tissue. Real-time guidance via MRI (MRgFUS) or diagnostic ultrasound ensures pinpoint accuracy and thermal monitoring. FUS is commercially approved for nearly 40 conditions globally, including critical applications like treating essential tremor, tremor-dominant Parkinson's disease, palliative pain from bone metastases, and uterine fibroids. The platform is currently under research for over 180 diseases, demonstrating its potential for both thermal ablation and targeted drug delivery.
