ONDC APIs
ONDC APIs establish India's open, interoperable e-commerce network: they standardize asynchronous, peer-to-peer transactions using the Beckn protocol.
These APIs form the technical backbone of the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), a Government of India initiative to democratize digital trade. The core function is enabling seamless communication between Network Participants (NPs), specifically Buyer Apps (BAPs) and Seller Apps (BSPs), without a central platform. The architecture is built on the open-source Beckn protocol, ensuring all transactions are standardized and authenticated via digital signatures. Key transactional APIs include `search` (for discovery), `select` (for item selection), and `confirm` (for order placement), which operate asynchronously. The network supports multiple domains: retail, logistics, and mobility are active examples. Developers integrate these specifications (currently v1.2) to onboard their applications, expanding market access and lowering transaction costs across the ecosystem.
