OTel eliminates vendor lock-in by offering a unified collection of APIs and SDKs for 11+ languages (including Java, Go, and Python). It uses the OTLP protocol to route telemetry to diverse backends like Jaeger, Prometheus, or Honeycomb. By deploying the OTel Collector, operators manage data pipelines with precision: filtering, redacting, and batching traffic before it hits storage.
