synthasaizer
An electronic instrument generating audio signals via oscillators and filters: it sculpts sound from raw waveforms (sine, saw, square) to create unique tones or mimic acoustic instruments.
A synthesizer (or synth) is an electronic musical instrument: it generates and manipulates audio signals using components like oscillators, filters, and envelopes. Unlike acoustic instruments, which rely on physical vibration, synths create sound from scratch using various synthesis methods (e.g., subtractive, FM, wavetable). Robert Moog pioneered the technology in the 1960s with voltage-controlled modules. Key developments include the 1970 Minimoog (standardizing the self-contained instrument) and the 1983 Yamaha DX7 (popularizing digital synthesis). The industry-standard MIDI protocol (1982) ensures seamless communication between hardware and modern software synths.
