UCP protocol
UCP (Universal Computer Protocol) is the industry-standard interface for connecting external applications to Short Message Service Centers (SMSC).
UCP serves as the primary bridge between enterprise servers and EMI (External Machine Interface) platforms for high-volume SMS delivery. Developed by CMG (now Luminex), it utilizes a command-response structure over TCP/IP to handle critical operations like MT (Mobile Terminated) message submission and status report delivery. Operators rely on UCP 60-series operations for advanced features like alphanumeric addressing and message prioritization. It remains a legacy backbone for global telecommunications, ensuring reliable data exchange between service providers and third-party gateways.
