Conspiracy theories have long existed in human culture, mostly with a reputation for being outlandish, baseless, or even absurd. However, there have been moments when theories, once dismissed as mere conjecture, proved to be true.

Edward Snowden previously served as an employee with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and later contracted for the National Security Agency (NSA). He began gathering top-secret documents about various surveillance programs the federal government ran in violation of the Fourth Amendment to the US Constitution.
